Lauren Solomon

I am a Doctorate of Creative Industries candidate and sessional academic in fashion, design and sustainability at QUT. My research has taken me to communities in Malawi and Cambodia, where I’ve investigated the complex relationship between fashion supply chains, questions of ethics and international development. As a practitioner I aim to develop projects that can create positive intervention in the fashion supply chain. My current research project looks at Empowering Women in the Cambodian Garment Industry.

After hanging out with The Stitchery community for the last few years I officially joined in 2016. I was drawn to The Stitchery Collective as I’m interested in exploring alternative ways of engaging with fashion, with a particular interest in challenging ideas of production and consumption. As a collective, I am interested in how collaboratively we can question traditional modes of fashion, raise social design issues and connect with various creative communities.
