Fashioning Social Inclusion

Getting together to sew with a group can mean socialising in a non-threatening and inclusive environment, it can be a time of creative expression or simply practical focussed endeavour, it can mean taking the time to think about making something just for yourself – it can mean learning new skills and applying them in a creative way. Sewing groups are places where expertise in the English language is a not a pre-requisite to full and engaging participation; it could mean a chance to recall and practice skills traditions learnt in another time and another place.
