Anna Hickey

I was one of the founding members that began The Stitchery Collective in 2010. Currently I’m a Doctorate of Philosophy (Fashion) candidate and occasional teacher with a background in art history, exhibitions and project management, and fashion theory. My research area is in gender and fashion studies, looking at how contemporary gender and queer theory is reflected across a wide range of current practices we call ‘fashion’.

Within the work we do at The Stitchery Collective, I’m most interested in public programs and how engaging with fashion can connect communities. Personally I’m most interested in how fashion can act as a pathway for connecting local gender-diverse communities and can be a meeting point for many current social activists.
