Exquisite Waistcoats

Paula Dunlop and Madeleine King love working together, and over time have devised some unique and playful approaches to fashion design. In September, they share their approaches through the Cooperative Fashion exhibition–a show that celebrates chance, improvisation and creative play!

Our Exquisite Waistcoats workshops required that you come in pairs and learn how collaboration, improvisation and chance can be fun ways to extend traditional approaches to garment making. In this workshop, partners work together to create a light waistcoat using simple geometric shapes. Beginners will find a relaxed approach to garment making, and more experienced sewers can enjoy the opportunity to loosen up and extend their existing skill base. Workshop was set against the Co-operative Fashion exhibition, which ran from 16th September-2nd October.

Eco Local Workshops

The Stitchery Collective, under the guidance of Zero Waste guru Emma Price, ran a series of workshops as part of the Homegrown Fesitval.

The Zaprons workshop was on Sat 23rd July, and in this fun and simple workshop, participants engaged in and learned about zero-waste making. This free workshop was offered as part of the Homegrown Festival, and produced some great results.

This Textile dyeing workshop was run on throughout July in 2011, at the stitchery collective’s studio in Fortitude Valley. Participants experimented with plant dyes, and imbue textiles with a distinctly eco/local flavour.

Shirt Up!

Up-cycling is core business for the stitchery collective. Re-love your pre-loved garments with Kiara and Bianca Bulley’s up-cycling fashion workshop. Find out how to turn a $1 men’s shirt into a nifty blouse, jacket or dress.

This popular workshop is one we can run in a jiffy. Check out some of the great new clothes that came out of the last one, and get in touch if you want a turn.
